| This is Weishan Liu's prize-winning composition written in 1975 when she participated in the construction of a dam in the Bronze Gorge of the Yellow River. Moved by the magnificent gorge and the sight of thousands of workers hard at work, she composed this piece for the gu-zheng using a folk melody of the Northwest. She also created new gu-zheng techniques in order to express the grandeur of the sight and the heroic spirit of the workers. |
