Founded in 1915, it was the only town in the United States built exclusively by the Chinese for the Chinese. Please come and enjoy the festivities of this day-long event -- Lion Dance, Firecrackers, Chinese Performers, Taiko Drummers; Guided Tours of Locke Memorial Garden, Memorial Tile Walls, Chinese school and Dai Loy Museum. Also featured is a special guest performance by Master Wang Wei, noted for his talents as both a traditional Chinese and modern jazz drummer, and famed for his soundtrack recordings for the popular film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. 2 PM - 5:30 PM The SFGMS Youth Ensemble will perform in the annual joint Moon Festival and China National Day celebration organized by the Northern California Chinese Association (北加州華人聯盟). They have planned a variety of entertainment shows, including Beijing Opera, guzheng performance, fashion show, acrobatics, magic show, Shaolin kungfu, ballet and Taiwan folk songs. There will be plenty of fun activities for kids as well like jump house, face painting, hula hoop and riddles. It should be fun for everyone, and the admission price is right -- FREE.
